Huntsville Sand Volleyball League

The Huntsville Sand Volleyball League runs from May through July and consists of several divisions. The league plays at the Huntsville City Sand Courts in Brahan Spring Park.

Team Registration, Fees

• Registration ends on April 26th or whenever the divisions are full.
• League fees are $80 for each Doubles Team and $120 for each Triples Team, cash or check only.
• Each team member must become an AVP member by visiting the AVP Membership Registration website and completing the membership. Membership is $10. You will be required to provide your AVP Next Membership number before the season begins.

Schedule

Matches are scheduled for 6:00 and 7:00pm. Be on time. Game time is at the hour. Game time is forfeit time for the first game if your team is not ready to play. The next game in the match is forfeited 30 minutes after the official start time. Official time is league official’s watch. If you no show you will be given one warning, the next time you will forfeit the league (and all fees).

Cancellation/make up policy
1. If the decision is made by the league representative to cancel prior to starting play, all games will be rescheduled at the end of the season.
2. If play has started and it's necessary to cancel (or players decide not to play) midstream due to weather, and more than 50% of play is not completed, all unplayed matches and/or matches in progress will be rescheduled at the end of the season.

League Organization, Rules and Guidelines

The complete list of rules and guidelines can be found in this document. Here are some excerpts from that document:

• Each doubles match will consist of 2 (25) point games. Triples coed will play 3 (21) point games. All matches have to be finished at 55 minutes past the hour. This will allow a 5-minute warm up period. If more time is need for warm-ups do it prior to your match.
• Short (AVP doubles size) courts will be used as well as all AVP beach volleyball rules. For doubles only, the block does count as a team contact but either player can contact the ball after the block (There are only 2 more contacts after the block).
• Coed Doubles will be played on a men’s height net. Men must serve men, if the ball is served to woman’s side, one reserve will be allowed. If the second serve goes to the woman’s side, the point will be lost and service will change sides.
